I don’t really remember if I had a name when I was a puppy and I don’t know how old I am. I just liked to play with my brothers and sisters like any other pup. As we grew up, though, they got faster and I just couldn’t keep up. You see, I was born with a deformity at the base of my spine and my back legs didn’t work. I would do my best, but dragging my legs around made them bloody and sore. One day a nice lady stopped and picked me up. That’s how I found myself at Kokopelli Moon Rescue and I got a new name: Second Chance.
Why we do what we do
“Jonel pours her heart and soul to rescue these dogs. She pays for everything out of her own pocket, spay, and neutering, and takes in special needs dogs. She has a lot of heartwarming stories. She did not hesitate one minute and we loaded up our 12-year-old dog into her truck and away they went. Jackie Achie Breakie Heart lived several years at Kokopelli Moon Rescue and was eventually adopted. He spent his final few weeks hanging out at the beach, out of the heat and enjoying the surf.
