We believe every animal deserves a home.

Our mission is to ensure that the next chapter in their lives is full of safety, trust, companionship, and love.

We collaborate closely with our network of partners and individuals:

  • transport coordinators

  • shelters

  • other rescue organizations

  • fosters

so that these animals may never suffer the same cruelties.

Services We Offer

Rescue

The majority of the animals that K.M.R. are found lost, abandoned, neglected, abused, injured, or in other hellish situations. These are the souls that we concentrate on.

  • We open our Rescue for folks displaced by emergencies.

  • We are often contacted by people who want to surrender their pets. We understand that every situation is different, and we make decisions based on the individual circumstances.

  • We will only accept dogs that have been spayed/neutered, are current on their vaccinations (rabies, parvo, bordatella), and are healthy.

  • We usually cannot help with aggressive dogs.

Placement

K.M.R. communicates with other public and private rescue organizations; as well as transporters to help animals make it to their foster and/or forever home. K.M.R. also works to ensure that the potential home is compatible with the animal’s needs.

Ownership and Education

We can provide references and information to help the folks who want to surrender their pets; and, again, we treat every situation individually. There are several reasons why people choose to adopt; these reasons should be considered when adding a new member to the family. Responsible pet owners learn to create healthy relationships.

Hipcamp

Hipcamp is a growing community of good-natured people and the most comprehensive resource for unique outdoor stays. Kokopelli Moon Rescue has decided to open up the property which is not being utilized at this time for rescue dogs, to campers come from all over the world to pitch a tent or park their van, and experience a wonderful camping experience at a working dog rescue. They get to interact with the dogs, and help socialize them; getting them ready for their next journey. When most campgrounds were closed down due to Covid, the campers could use this as a home-base and visit Giant Sequoias and other attractions in the area.

We provide a clean toilet, potable water, a charging station for cell phones, a healing environment, and lots of stars at a very minimal cost. All proceeds that come into Kokopelli Moon Rescue help to buy food, medications, prosthetics, spay/neuter, chipping, cleaning and repair supplies, transportation costs, and much more.  Most people cannot adopt or foster, but the interaction with the dogs and any donations help immensely.
